Client information

" My daughter goes to Next Step every year for new braces. Every time we go to Next Step we are treated so nicely. Dave and Matt are friendly and nice to my 9 year old. Diane is always ready to welcome us with a friendly smile at the desk. Our visits are always positive and pleasant! Keep up the excellent customer service."

Nancy Phillips

Mother of 9 year-old Morgan

"We try to help kids be kids, instead of helping kids be patients."
Matt Albuquerque, CPO
Next Step Vice President

A philosophy of customized treatment
While some people can wear off-the-shelf braces or orthotics, we specialize in fitting people who need custom orthotics. Recognizing that each of our clients has unique orthotic needs, we treat each person as an individual.

Our strong concentration in pediatric orthotics is evident as soon as you enter our facility in Manchester, New Hampshire. A specially painted rain forest play area and under-the-sea treatment room make kids feel right at home. Parents tell us that their children look forward to visiting our inviting kids' areas and interacting with our fun-loving staff.

We invite you to visit us for a consultation, a tour of our facility and to see our philosophy in action. Throughout the evaluation and fitting process we work with the entire family because we understand that if one member of the family needs orthotics, the entire family is affected.

Our consultations are comprehensive, informative and provided at no cost.

Team-focused evaluation process
Evaluations are most effective when performed as a team, including the client, a Next Step practitioner, and the client's physical and occupational therapists. Parents of children needing orthotics are also included in the evaluation team, as they best know the needs and aspirations of their child.

Individualized fitting process
Because every client has different challenges, we custom-fit each person to address individual needs. Our goal-oriented approach focuses on optimizing each client's potential in taking part in a full range of activities.

Because a client's physical therapists play an integral role in optimizing the use of an orthotic, we invite them to be part of the fitting process.

Many of our young orthotic clients have cerebral palsy, muscular distrophy, spina bifida or scoliosis, so we have extensive experience in effectively fitting and treating clients with these conditions.

On-site fabrication
All orthotics are fabricated on site to ensure the clinical team's specifications are met to every detail. This allows our highly trained technicians to fine-tune adjustments during a visit to ensure a comfortable fit.

Ongoing care and maintenance
Maintaining a good, comfortable fit is critical to being able to pursue a wide range of activities. Children's orthotics are monitored for growth to make sure comfort and optimal function are maintained over time.

Our team approach also includes staying in contact with a client's orthopedist and encouraging physical therapists to contact us with concerns or questions. This collaborative approach provides the best care possible.

We recommend the structural integrity of the orthotic be checked daily and skin be checked for redness and calluses, indications that the orthotic may not be fitting properly.
